Volunteers who have been accepted to mentor are required by Big Brothers Big Sisters of Canada - National Standards of Service Delivery to complete Child Safety Training.

This training will be provided to all new mentoring volunteers prior to being matched with a child. The training will address:

• Goals and Objectives of the Training
• Self Esteem Building
• Bullying Prevention
• Indicators of Abuse in Children
• How to Handle a Disclosure of Abuse
• Building A Relationship with the Child      
• Opportunity for discussion and question/answer period
